Abstract | Smart Cities are the perfect ecosystem where IoT technology could be applied. In particular, to allow a direct interaction with objets scattered over a city (e.g, parking slots, light posts, gates) a powerful and scalable architecture has to be envisioned. In this paper, using Bluetooth Low Energy as underlying technology, we extend the concept of Personal Area Networks to include smart city objects so that a user can easily interact with them in a geolocalized and real time manner. A prototype implementing a smart gate has been developed in our University Campus in order to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach. © 2017 IEEE. |
