Dario Bruneo received the degree in Computer Engineering from the Engineering Faculty of the University of Palermo (Italy) in 2000 and the Ph.D. in ”Advanced Technologies for Information Engineering” at the University of Messina (Italy) in 2005. From 2001 to 2002 he worked as a researcher at the Research and Development Laboratory of the Engineering Ingegneria Informatica (S.p.A). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering of the University of Messina.
The research activity of Dario Bruneo has been focused on the study of distributed systems with particular regards to the management of advanced service provisioning, to the system modeling and performance evaluation. His current research topics include Internet of Things (and its application in Smart City scenarios), AI techniques for Cyber Physical Systems, monitoring and evaluation of Cloud computing systems, performance and reliability of complex systems.
He is co-editor of the book "Quantitative Assessments of Distributed Systems - Methodologies and Techniques" - Scrivener/Wiley. He has coordinated the UniMe research activities in the FP7-ICT european project "CloudWave: Agile Service Engineering for the Future Internet". He is local coordinator of the "Embedded Systems & Smart Manufacturing" CINI Lab and he is co-founder of the SmartMe.io company.
He is a member of the program committees of several international conferences and workshops and he serves as reviewers for prestigious international journals. He is a member of IEEE since 2006.
